Dinner Party

We had visitors for dinner last night and I decided to try a few new things...

First course we had Baked Pasta Shells, a recipe I saw in the Canvas last weekend.  The shells are stuffed with chopped mushrooms, garlic, ricotta and parmesan.  Then placed atop spinach (from the garden!) and baked with a little cream, mozzarella and some more parmigiano reggiano!!
Turend out to be quite delicious - will have it again.

Next I had brought a lamb leg which I found a Donna Hay recipe to try, Garlic and Rose Lamb Leg.
Toward the end you add the potatoes and carrots to cook in the juices.
It was delicious (if I say so myself)!  I think the favourite though were the honey glazed yams.

Lastly I had attempted some Lemon Tarts, even made the curd myself, with the help of my husband who stirred the mixture - he makes a great kitchen hand!
They look quite stunning on the Burleigh plate.
Dessert served with a Vanilla ice cream (a new brand, Kohu Road - highly recommended) and a berry coulis.

After than we had chocolate to finish, and lay in the lounge with full stomachs in front of the fire!

It was a lovely evening - must try again sometime soon.  If only we had a dining table / room that could accommodate visitors...but we're working on that.  Consent goes to Council tomorrow!!
