Spring!

We've had some lovely weather recently - which has inspired an outside project!

Actually began when our lime tree seemed to combust and break off half way up the trunk - clean cut.  And no Matt hadn't been weed trimming...!  So on looking at a new lime tree we were told they don't grow well in clay - which we're blessed with.  We them wondered about building some more garden boxes or buying some wine barrels to plant a lemon & lime in and this is what happened...

Before - the vegetable garden

Placemakers dropped off some timber to us - precut to length!
We built some boxes in the garage
Had some dirt delivered
Midway - a joyous Matt digging up the grass in the boxes!
And this weekend we managed to get it finished!

Once the deck goes in we will weedmat and pebble around. Hopefully the fruit trees will grow a bit better in them.
Still to plant some taspberries - have to keep up with brother you see - have raspberry envy!

So we have fruit trees growing:
Double Pear
Double Apple
Plum - a lovely dark red one (like the one rudely cut down from home...)
2x Feijoa
Lemon
Lime

Tomatoes, beans, capsicum, chilli and zucchini are the first spring vegetables in - soon to be followed by potatoes and kumara.  Yum!

We're rather please considering our practical skills rate close to none - so please no comments about levels, joins etc when seen close up!!

In other garden new, James garden is doing well!
We have a magnolia tree - called Cleopatra!  She is rather gorgeous.

A new camelia which is stunning
Some lovely poppies coming out
Bottled some beetroot from the garden yesterday
My lovely man has developed a fabulous habit of buying flowers!  We're enjoying these gorgeous Aneomes at the moment..

And that's all from us - besides a few more James photos...!

Well done Thompson's.. The flowers are indeed lovely. Did you consider doing the garden boxes level.?!?
